Grant Guidelines & Application Overview
The Kohala Coast Community Fund supports organizations that foster economic growth and job opportunities on Hawaiʻi Island. These organizations provide local residents with in-depth training, mentorship, and exposure to career paths, enabling them to pursue high-value jobs on-island. In addition, KCCF supports programs for local businesses to thrive.
Eligibility Requirements
We welcome grant applications from Hawaiʻi 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations serving Hawaiʻi Island residents that are in good standing with the IRS and the DCCA, or those working under a formal fiscal sponsor. To apply, you will need:
- IRS 501(c)(3) Determination Letter
- DCCA Certificate of Good Standing
- Form 990 (-N, -EZ, etc.) for the most recently completed fiscal year
- Financial Statement for the most recently completed fiscal year
Please note: If you have previously received a grant but did not adhere to the terms, you might not be eligible for future support.
Grant Guidelines & Terms
Awards are issued to grantees under the following terms. Failure to meet the terms of the grant agreement may result in grantees being deemed ineligible for future awards. By accepting funds, organizations agree to be bound by the following:
- Use of Funds: We only accept proposals for 12-month projects and do not commit to multi-year grants. Spend the funds on the program as described in your application within the 12-month period. Any changes in how you use the funds need our prior approval.
- Mentorship: Each grantee will be paired with a mentor from KCCF to support your goals. Your mentor will be involved in events and provide guidance throughout the grant period.
- Reporting: Six months after receiving the grant, you’ll need to send a mid-term report on your progress. We encourage you to share photos, press releases, and testimonials with your report. A final report is due one month after the grant period ends, summarizing your achievements and how the funds were used.
- Notification of Changes: Let us know about any major changes to your program or if there’s any change in your tax-exempt status.
- Marketing Material: Provide marketing materials, including a media kit with your logo and description, for our newsletter and website.
- Event Participation: Join us at our annual Kohala Coast Community Fund fundraising events.
Frequently Asked Questions
Organizations that have fulfilled their obligations associated with previous grants are eligible to apply for additional funds once annually.
Applications from churches and schools will be considered so long as all KCCF funds are spent on the proposed program. Funds can go directly to participants but not for administrative fees.
KCCF does not fund campaigns or capital improvement projects, even in cases where they indirectly serve preferred programs and their beneficiaries.
